Re: oxygen acetylene cart

Personally I would go with larger wheels... Those tanks are heavy enough that small wheels make it a PITA to roll the tank over something like an extension cord or air hose on the shop floor.

Then again, not everyone's shop is as disorganized as mine is, so obstacles may not be an issue for you.

Really wish I had bigger wheels, $8 in those.
If I run across some larger ones I'll swap em out. Bottles are crags list find a little large, heavy.

If you have a Harbor Freight around, they frequently have those 10 inch (I think) pneumatic wheels on sale for $3.99 or $5.99 depending on the week. They also have solid tires in the same size for roughly the same price. I've bought and used a bunch of the pneumatic ones, and for the price, they can't be beat.

Re: oxygen acetylene cart

I recommend the solid ones from HF. Seems like the pneumatic ones are always flat.

The Harbor freight ones are always flat because they only hold air for a week . what can a person expect for 6.00 Bucks? Mac.

Re: oxygen acetylene cart

Nice lookin' job. I'll suggest when you get bigger wheels, cut out a couple of triangles and weld them to the bottom of the cart set so the wheels will be further back from the tanks. It makes the cart more stable and lifts the bottom of it off the ground further for more clearance.

Re: oxygen acetylene cart

Mike I was cyphering axle placement. With a 10" wheel say, how far back? My axle is 1.25" back from tank and top heavy. So 1"-3"or 5"?

Recently purcased some solid wheels for my OA cart. Was able to use 1/2 round bar for the axles.

Nice cart!
