Problem with Power I-Tig 200

I just got this welder yesterday to keep at home and play around because its pretty darn affordable for a home play unit. I thought i would take it in and play with it at work and compare it to our Miller dynasty. Unfortuntly the HF start is not working It lift starts perfectly and I am very impressed otherwise. Am I doing something wrong? I dont think so but Please get back to me on this issue. I will also send an e-mail to your support.

Thanks.....

Re: Problem with Power I-Tig 200

The I tig is more like the maxstar unit with pulse because it is DC only.

Now, the HF might be out of adjustment...point gap is .035 to .040. You can call us at 877-755-9353 ext 207, and will help you figure this out.

Re: Problem with Power I-Tig 200

Lug,
This seems to be just about the most common failure of your tigs with HF start. Can't you scream at manufacturing and convince them to set these correctly before they ship?
The points on my PP256 had a huge gap along with being out of alignment. I mean really, how long does it take to check and set the points if the cover is already off? 2 minutes???
That said, after QC'ing mine I have not had a single problem. I'm thinking of building a CNC plasma table for it

Re: Problem with Power I-Tig 200

We have....The issue is the location, is more sensitive to movement in the machine, from shock loading and even can get snagged on a shirt sleeve during final assembly and get pulled out. Usually in testing, they will work because of the new electronics "power" before they burn in and check out ok. New style points are being installed in many of the units that will improve sturdiness and adjust-ability...I'd love to see us go to capacitive discharge, the same as the 210 ext, but that may require a full microprocessor, and take away the affordability of the units, and require a full rework.
