Some thin stuff
These brackets were made out of what some of my previous coworkers and I call "O" gauge - as in "OH too thin". Actually, the bottom plate was thick 20 gauge and the top plate was 24ga. Unfortunately the bottom plate was not bent correctly leaving excess material on one of the bent up legs and not enough on the opposite side. This left a gap of about 3/16" at the one end of the angled part! That gap was fun to weld up...
The weld settings: GTAW DCEN pure argon @ 15 CFH 1/16" 2% thoriated tungsten max of 20 amps The part is a bulkhead of a race car chassis - connects the front subframe (engine and suspension) to the chassis. There were matching left and right side pieces. |

Nice work Jason.
Are these production pieces as well or one-off? - Paul
