Looks good

Is that tig or O/A. I would assume TIG, however looks like a lot of heat was applied.

Thanks for the help with the pics.

welds are TIG

gas lens, 3/32 tungston (2%) red

Oh, and this is the rear shock mount for an off road car/UTV class buggy.

Re: rear shock mount project

It is a press punch piece. There is a exact name for it as I had asked ZT the same exact questions before.

Re: rear shock mount project

Flared hole die or Dimple Die- Mine are made by "Light Racing"

you pre-cut your hole. i.e. hole saw, water/plasma, then use a shop press to flare the holes.

I figured it was something of that nature.. ..I've looked into dimpling sets and they run a hefty buck for hardened dies. They do produce nice results

Re: rear shock mount project

Sorry for the delay in response. I guess you could say it is kind of a "Rhino"..

Anyway, still lots of mock up parts, but getting close.
I have lots of photos of this build, but have been so busy I have not uploaded most of them.

Re: rear shock mount project

Thanks for the kind words guys. I hope to make a test drive soon.

ZTFab- sorry I didn't answer your question re race class. I was hoping to run in the "UTV" class but since this is a complete tube buggy (as of yet no exeptions for non oem chassis), I may have to run with the class 9 guys. That means all out LS1's and such.

If so, I will just reinforce the rear bumper a little and hold on extra tight

Re: rear shock mount project

Class 9 with an LS1?

In what sanction? In BITD, SCORE, etc. class 9 is a 1600cc VW powered class with a swing axle trans and very limited travel.

The work looks good. It should be a fun little ride.
