Bad welds in factory

Just wanted to get this off my chest. I work for a commercial painting contractor full time. I have been working at a local bottle factory painting the underside of a very large platform.

My jaw droped when I seen the quality of the welds made on this platform. Now I'm by no means putting down union welders at all. These welds were though, done by the local union guys. This platform is around 80'x50'. Two 1/2" x 10" I beams either side. Then I believe 14 cross beams of 1/4" x 6". Anyways the welds were horrible. I have no idea how they passed inspection. I'll take some pictures tomorrow. I just wanted to get this off my mind.

So my question is. What type of inspection do structures like that go through. Also there is a palletizing machine on the platform and conveyors. The platform is about 14' high.

Zap, your going to cry when you see these poor welds.

How does 12" of total weld, done with looks to be 1/8" rod. On a 50' I beam sound to you?

I would like to see it too. My welds get AWS visiual inspected most of the time.

I gotta have my stuff together. If there is a problem, I have to go back and repair them for free. I did this ONCE.
