New guy from Iowa

Hello all!

I have been lurking around here for a little while and thought i should finally say hello. It is a great site and i am so glad that i found it.
My name is Tom and i have a problem! I love to melt metal together... There is something so fun about welding that i just cant get enough.

I am in the autoparts buisness to pay the bills. I am married and have two great kids. Daniel(9) and Waverly(6). I am lucky to have a wonderful wife who understands my obsession and is very supportive of it.

My shop is 20' x 50' and is devoted to just shop stuff no lawn mowers ect... i just finished a tubing bender to help with my long term project(72 challenger).

My welders include hobart hh180, miller thunderbolt, lincoln ac/dc 225. I am currently saving for a Lincoln PT225 tig machine. Tig has always fascinated me and i can't wait to get it.

Thanks Tom

Welcome Tom! A very nice bender, shop and 4x4 welding cart. From the looks of your bender frame you are quite oriented around the details. Very cool!
Do you mind me asking what bender plans you're using? Thanks.

Re: New guy from Iowa

Thanks everyone.

Micro: I cheated on the bender. I bought the JD2 model3 manual bender. The frame that i have made is to convert it to hydraulic because i am to lazy to row it manually. If you were ever to by one i would reccomend that one. They are very nice and have great customer service.

Cranker - thanks for the information. I've thought about building one but it's a few projects away. I have plans for the CBH bender, which is similar to the JD2 bender. My next project is to build a plasma pattern cutter. I have plans for that on the way.
