Chicago Electric Mig Welder 131, or any welder.

WHat if any modifications has anyone done to their welder to improve performance. I have added a cooling fan to mine.

Re: Chicago Electric Mig Welder 131, or any welder.

I got an ARC-180 and it is a nice AC/DC stick welder but the cord and the leads are junk (too short and too small in gauge). HF had some nice ground clamps with 20' leads on sale so I bought them and put the original electrode holder on the end of one of them and replaced the existing leads. I also got about 25' of 10/3 rubber coated cable to replace the power cord. To rewire the power cord I had to break the existing power cord grommet to get it out and replaced it with a snap in cable clamp (had to enlarge the existing grommet hole a bit).

Now it's a nice little welder.
