Lincoln Power MIG 255 XT Just not welding right
I have a Lincoln Power MIG 255 XT and it seems like you just can't get it dialed in right. I thought it was the liner or the gun and even carried the feeder module to the LWS and had it looked at. It is like the wire speed is way too fast sort of. You turn the speed down and it get's a little better but it still hammers I guess you could say. I carried the whole machine to LWS today to have it looked at. He said he was thinking maybe Diodes or the Circuit Board or Capacitors maybe. Has anybody else had these problems out of similar machines. It is only two years old. I have two other MIG welders and have been welding for years, I know something just isn't right with it.

Re: Lincoln Power MIG 255 XT Just not welding right
If it is only two years old, it is still under warranty. Get it to a Lincoln authorized repair center and get it repaired. It almost sounds like a bad capacitor bank or SCR.
With all electronic devises some are put together and run for years and never fail. Others die just as soon as they are first turned on. Others die just as the warranty runs out. We just never know when they are going to fail. IF you don't know where to take it. Call Lincoln and ask them. The local sales reps Know the best shops to recommend and can help if you are not happy with where you are sent. |

Re: Lincoln Power MIG 255 XT Just not welding right
It is currently at the local Lincoln dealer, but I haven't heard from them yet as to what the problem is. The thing that sucks is that I'm not the original owner and the warranty is void once it is sold.

Re: Lincoln Power MIG 255 XT Just not welding right
Most warranty repair shops don't even ask about how many owner's a machine has had.
Just as long as it is in warranty by the serial number. If your shop is giving you a hard time. Go ahead a call Lincoln factory and talk to a warranty rep. Maybe you can plead you case and get them to cover the repair anyway. All welder warranty's state warranty is good only to the first owner. But most will cover it anyway. It is there to give them an out if they think they need it. |
