Fence Corner Post welding
Here's my problem:
In making corner posts for barbed wire fence I am using 4x9 steel posts spaced 8 foot. I need to set a diagonal 2" post for support between the two. It's always a 'hit and miss' on getting the right cope and angle between the two sizes and have wasted way too much pipe. How would the pros do this job? I've tried just using the good 'ol H configuration but it doesn't always hold up to tensioning. Certainly there has to be some sort of template one could use to get the copes and angle right. If so any source ideas? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Fence Corner Post welding
There is a method but just clear it up for me first, I have just put up a fence that the cyclone destroyed, I used 4" square hollow section, 4mm wall thickness set in concrete. So are you using square or round? What I did for someone else in another forum was I sent him a plan I scanned at work, I can do the same again but I need a few details. I suggest you pm me and take it from there

Re: Fence Corner Post welding
Just throwing this out there, but 4 x 9 is a bit of an overkill for what you are doing. I have built MANY corner post from 4 x 4 x1/4 tube or even 3" pipe over the years and never had a problem. Just thought I would mention it as it might save ya some serious money in the long run.
