Tig welder

Does anyone have or have used a tig welder from Longevity? And how do they work? I have seen them on Ebay.

Re: Tig welder

No, but I've beat up on a used Smiley Tools 160 amp AC/DC combo unit (probably made in the same Chinese sweat shop) and it has been a thrill for the dollar for sure for my home projects! I'll post to the group when it finally takes a dump......

Re: Tig welder

I don't have one and have technically never used one -- mine arrived DOA and I had to fight the seller to get my money back.

They seem to have a couple of shills on this board (StevenC and some other dude Vermala -- I think Vermala owns the ebay Longevity outfit and stevenc works there). I'm sure they'll be along soon enough to tell you how great they are.

Bottom line, I don't know what I was thinking when I took a chance and ordered a machine made in some anonymous factory where safety and quality control are afterthoughts, especially something like a welding machine, easily capable of delivering well over 6kW and who knows what happens when it does crap out. I suppose I was lucky in a way that the one they sent me was a dud.

Re: Tig welder

If you absolutely must buy one of these cheezy little things, at least buy it from Grizzly- they are a real company, with buildings and catalogs and people who answer phones, and they even have a parts department.

Personally, I run a Miller shop- Syncrowave 250, XMT-304, XR-30 and S-22 wire feeders, Regency and Sidekick and even a Miller spot welder.
