A bucket job :)
Another job that came in last night. He wanted it fixed, not a new cutting edge. I said OK since the shank only had one bolt in it and that is why it broke.
I tack welded the piece in place both sides then gouged it with my Hypertherm 600. Welded one side with 1/8" 7018, then back gouged until I got my weld on the other side.

Re: A buchet job :)
Added some preheat. I got that piece of slag out before I welded it.
1/8"7018 130 amps. the holes line up. David

Re: A bucket job :)
I think he needs to go w/ narrower teeth if he's digging lots of rock. That style is fine for hoggin' dirt. A hard pull on the outside edge of the corner teeth will put a tremendous twisting force on the adapter which would cause the break.

I never had much luck gouging into a "V" or blind hole, with plasma. In fact, I kind of gave up on it. Do you use a standard tip or a gouging tip? What sort of torch angle? |

Re: A bucket job :)
Nice Dave, I have a 42" bucket off a PC300 coming in on Monday to be refurbed. I will have some pix up when I am done.
