Filler Neck Supply question

Hello everybody,
I have a question regarding weldable fuel tank filler necks and caps. Does anybody know of an inexpensive source for these things? The best I have found is about 30 bucks for a sheetmetal neck and unvented cap set. I know 30 bucks is not completely unreasonable, but i was wondering if anybody knows of a cheaper source.

Re: Filler Neck Supply question

I've made a couple of tanks. What I did was pull one off a junk car. Some, but not all, cars have a filler neck that is flanged. They usually attach to the body with 3 screws. I added a gasket and 3 more sheet metal screws, for a total of 6. No leaks with either of them. I'm a cheapskate though .

Re: Filler Neck Supply question

Here's a thread with a pic of one of them. The necks actually look pretty good, for free at least.

Re: Filler Neck Supply question

Post a pic if you can of what you're looking for. I make them when I need them. Mostly boat tanks, some aux. spare tanks for trucks. I use 1-1/2" tube for the neck, and weld it to a flange.
