Tig Aluminum
I would like some help setting up my welder for Aluminum.
I have been welding 3/16 X 1" flat bar. I can't seem to get any consistency. One pass works well and I can get a nice puddle and the filler rod melts in fine. The next pass everything bubbles or generally looks like crap. I have a Lincoln precision TIG 185 output at 175 on AC Gas - pure argon Pure tung electode 3/32" Fequency on high AC balance on auto I use a stainless steel brush to clean the Aluminum. Thanks for the help |

Re: Tig Aluminum
If this is 6xxx alloy flatbar from Home Depot or such a store, I 've had this same problem. No matter what you do, there seems to be no consistency to the weld.

Re: Tig Aluminum
Are you recleaning after each pass? I have had problems like that and found that I needed to clean every pass before attemting the next.

Re: Tig Aluminum
The Aluminum is 6061 -t6 from a metal supply store.
We clean everytime we weld. |
