Linde mig Welder?

I recently found an old Linde mig welder in a store. The original paper work is with it. The machine was bought new in 1969 for $3500.00 and it's priced at $400.00 now. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether this is a good buy or not?

You need to find out if this is a single phase machine for home use first thing. Chances are that a 3500$ machine in 69 was an industrial unit for use where they had 3 phase power and that info is limited. What model is it? What do you intend to weld? For small shop my take is something like a new MM210 easy on the power needs and works well. Its priced right, works well with extension cords if needed, is still in production, they make them by the thousands, service and parts IF needed will be around for a long time and will give 20+ years of good reliable service.

I had a Linde engine driven MIG for welding pipeline and it worked great but Sberry's advice should be noted.
