Welding steel outrigger plate to steel column, less weld
Hello guys,
We are welding a 6" (horizontal) X 8" vertical 1/4" steel plate to a steel column. The initial plans called for two horizontal welds one on each side of the clip. The latest plans call for a full weld all the way around all 4 sides. Will the initial assumption work under these design reactions: V= 140 lb T= 2884 lb M= 1262 ft-lb We are using E70xx class electrode to weld. Due to budget restrictions, we are requesting for a deviation from the latest plans. In case the horizontal welds are not enough, will welding 4" all 4 sides work??. Thanks in advance for any ideas or advice you can provide. |
