New Guy Introducing Myself to Everyone

I just bought two welders becuase I think I got a good deal on them.
Ive welded in the past on my father in laws Hobart 140 and stick welder.Since then, 3 years ago ive gotten hooked and finally saw a reason to buy a welder.

Reason I felt the urge to buy a welder was to weld on 3 catalytic converters on two of cars...Saw these 2 deals and said to myself "now or never" lol...

I work as a Campus Officer for a Big 12 University enforcing laws on campus and also an paramedic instructor part time at the school...Beleive it or not I hate arresting people, becuase its makes someones life turn upside down and effects many people in a negative way.
I just want to have a quiet & happy life, no job to bring home or attitude..Wen I worked as a supervisor, brought work home alot and it forced me to resign to patrolman becuase my family life suffered..Besides I dont beleive in a majority of laws that are personal choice issues, which makes me think twice about my line of work.

Hobbies are shooting guns mostly .22 anymore due to cost.I also collect revolvers and other different guns, but I am phasing myself out of firearms for the most part..I enjoy Fishing freshwater mostly, but salwater when we are visting family down in Texas.. Rasing our two boys which are my wifes and I pride and joys (2.5 years and a newborn about 1 week old), and spending time with my wife, going on vacation to see family etc is all we do for fun..Sometimes we go to Tunica or Kansas City to gamble craps, and Blackjack about once a year.
We beleive in rasing our children ourselves and never use baby sitters, becuase we had trouble having kids, so every moment with them is a blessing, not a burden and money will not be a deciding factor for us, as we made choices of family first, not stuff.

Maybe if your close I will invite you guys over for a 6 pack.If you bartend even better!

Hey there goodoleboy - welcome. I see you've been hangin' around a long time. So you now have two Lincolns AND the Ironman? Your profile doesn't include a location - where ya from? What part of TX are your relatives in? I'm right next door to Louisiana in SE Texas but the local cajons refer to it as 'West Louisiana'

I think you will be happy with both of those machines. Run some beads and post some pics, we like to look at the welds.

Well I took back the 175 and considering keeping the 3200

I do have a ironman due to show up in 7 days.

Yes, I do have lots to worry about once that freight truck shows up.

That is what they are attempting to correct. This is a new system and hopefully it will help. The "cast iron boat", "smoke generator", "3 pass .023 wire on 5/8 material with a gap"...on and on and on...lol. The new system is an fresh attempt to stop the misinformation and slamming...who knows whether it'll work or not.

Re: New Guy Introducing Myself to Everyone

david r and olddad, are u saying a guy couldnt take a lincoln 3200 and put a 5/8 thick hitch on a truck or anything else and it hold.????????????

please reply to this,it may not be the best way,but are u saying it is known it cant be done.kevin fab posted he was 023 wire, the smaller the wire on a small machine the more heat in the wire u get, straight c02 will give more penetration than mix gas, and some gap will help make a better weld, please back this info up with some facts.if u two are saying it cant be done then ur knowledge is about what i thought, and u must be saying this.

it is not the way i would weld it but it can be done, and hold just fine.

Re: New Guy Introducing Myself to Everyone

Do you really want to post in public...knowing that the inexperienced will believe it, that someone did this for a customer ??? This is supposed to be an information site...any way you look at it no self respecting pro would weld in such a manner as described for a customer !!
I can't argue that it can't be done but I'll definately argue that it shouldn't be done !!

Sorry, 5/8 material with .023 wire isn't welding...it's metal pouring...even with beveling and preheat.

Well...lol...the whole point of the new system is to stop the insults and fighting. I can't continue this debate without pissing off a mod over his level of experience. Just me being me will get me kicked off this site soon enough anyway without going there...lol
I'll just bow out of this debate and let you have at the mods.
