TV Show "Modern Marvels" topic of Welding will be on Friday History Channel

Friday central time, 12 noon and Repated at 6pm

The History Channel show "Modern Marvels" will have a show with the topic of welding...According to the Weldingweb forum its a five part series on Welding looks interesting and right up our alley.

Set your Tivo/DVR to record and check it out, I have not seen it but got it set to record...

Well I did tivo the show and got to watch it last night..It was interesting but I wish it showed more about welding the avaerage man can do..Not the Explosion welding that has to be done at a jobsite or robot welding..Ohn well better than watching re-runs.

Re: gas question for Mig & tig

Can a mig and a tig machine be used with the same gas if the gas is pure argon ? I realize there is a " cost issue " but I would like to build a cart fro both machines and only use One gas Bottle with a switching valve to send gas to one machine at a time ?

Thanks...joe

Different gases. Mig uses 100% argon ONLY for aluminum. Otherwise, mig uses a Co2 mixture or somtimes straight Co2. Tig uses 100%argon, or a mix of argon/ helium. But mostly, argon.
