Pin outs for TIG control???

I have an ArcMaster 185 ac/dc. Love it. I'm trying to find information about 'standard' connections for TIG controls (pedals, torch mounted switches, etc) and am getting confused. I think my manual refer to the connection as an eight pin connector. I've seen others described as commonly three pin and seven pin. Is there an industry standard?

Where can I get info on the various standards?

As you said, the TA185 uses 8 pin connections.

the pinouts are described on page 4-1.

Generally, remote controls have two connections for the On/Off, contactor switch, and three connections for the current control potentiometer. The TA 185 also has a grounded connection, and two connections to let the machine know that the remote is plugged in.

I have not seen any standard between manufacturers, or even within a single manufacturer. It would at least be nice if the current control potentiometer were the same between different brands, then all you would have to do is change out the connector and pinouts to match your machine.

Do you know what is typically running through these connections as far as current/voltage?
Is it switched on/off with the pedal rheostat?
