floor panels, floor panels, floor panels?

what gauge are "reproduction floor pans" ?
what gauge sheet metal was used as floor panels (on a '67 Ford)?
Will 120v mig with the flux core that came in the box handle it ?

My research says it is a close call, but then I am not sure of the actual thickness or what all will be involved in this job. Any helpful advice?

All I know about it is "reproduction floor pans" on 1967 mustang.
Thanks.

Get out the trusty mic, and compare to the chart. You'll then know what you've got.

If it's pretty thin, gas shielded wire would be best.

Here's another chart for thicker stuff.

BTW, "Twenty Gauge" from J.W. Harris Co. .030 75/25 works good

Re: floor panels, floor panels, floor panels?

Most floor pans are made from 18 - 16 gauge metal. The old cars had better metal in them compared to the newer cars. As farmeramm said, you really should use mig wire and C25 gas to get a decent job. Fluxcore will do the job but it is a lot harder and not near the job. Plus their is some info that links flux to premature rusting.

Hope this helps. I have done several floor pans and body mods, so PM me anytime if you have a question.

Have fun
