Drillpress vice

I got tired of using my cheap vice and built one. It opens to 7" and is 7" wide. I was going to use threaded rod and a coupling nut but I came across a c-clamp that I found in the scrap some years ago. The end had been cut off and the handle was missing. It was a start. Next I found a piece of 3/4"X 3" flat-bar and some 3/4' X3/4" square stock and 5 hours later it was a vice. When cruising this site I saw that one person had milled his vice to accept flat-bar so I made the jaw plates 1/4" short. Very good idea! The handle is cold roll with ball bearings welded on the ends. The vice works very well, smooth and tight but a little heavy.
