Helmet lense shade question.

I have 2 helmets, and 1 handheld mask that I got with my welder. They are all shade 10 but they all have different clarity and color of arc. One makes the arc look yellowish, and the hand held and other helmet have a blue arc. They all say shade 10 but the only one I can really see clearly with is the handheld one that came with the welder. Is there diferent types of lenses that work differently? Im assuming the lower the number the more light. What is a good shade for mig/wire feed in the 100amp range? I plan to purchase a Speeglass 9000v or 9000x when I buy my next welder but these are working fine for now. Just curious as to why they all look different. Thanks

The biggest factor in visibility thru a helmet is usually a well smoked up and pitted protector lense. Generally, right about the time you figure yer goin blind is a good time to remember you need to replace the spatter lense.
Different filter glasses yield different light pictures, nothing to really be concerned about.
Having spent a lot of years looking thru filter glass, the best picture will be with one of the gold filters.
Depending on your age and your vision, a #10 might be too light for you at 100 amps.
The gold ones are a lot more cost effective than the high priced electronic helmets.

Yes as said there are many filter types I like the clean outside ones. I don't personally care for any other. JMOP
