Re: iron bottle tree

I like that one, nice work!

Last summer my fiancee and I were trying to fish a certain area of a small river around here.
The only way to get to where we wanted to be was on private property, it is a local nursery.

We stopped in the nursery to ask permission and ended up hangin out with the older couple that ran the place instead. Through the course of conversation, me being a welder came up.

She took us in the backyard and showed us all this metal art she collects. Among the pieces was a bottle tree. She said people were offering her 100 bucks for it!

Re: iron bottle tree

i made one of those for a friend a few years ago, i dont have any pictures though. apparently its an old voodoo thing to ward off evil spirits, the idea being that all the shiny and sparkly things distract the spirits, they get tangled up and cant get into the house to do whatever it is bad spirits do.

Re: iron bottle tree

That's pretty neat. I imagine it looks cool when the wind makes the bottles move slightly.

Does she blow her own glass, and wanted a place to display her work?

Cool bender. Bet it's a knuckle buster if it slips sideways while you're bending. Been there, done that

Re: iron bottle tree

Can a bottle tree be "read" to see what kind of night it was?

Let's see:
Budweiser, Steak Sauce, Ripple, Jack Daniels, Hot sauce, Pepto Bismol!

That would have to be more like a bottle "forrest"

In my first house, my buddies and I thought, "We drink all this beer, lets save the bottles in the basement and hand them in for the deposit when we get a bunch!"

Problem was, we couldn't find anyone who would take 1500 bottles all at once.
MANY trips to the recycling place.

Re: iron bottle tree

Yep I bet the kids in the neighborhood think all those bottles would make great targets.
I wonder if she glued them onto the rebar so they would,'t come flying off in high winds.

1,500 in the basement!! I agree when you open the basement door it must stunk. you could have made a castle out of them so you would have a place to sleep when the wife says your home is your castle now sleep in it

Re: iron bottle tree

If I knew that putting your trash on display in your front yard was Artsy Fartsy, I could have made a fortune!
Yuck!
That is just a public nuisance ticket waiting to be issued.

Good for you to make some money. Bad for her neighbors having to look at that crap.

Cool! Hey, I've got some seeds for this type of tree and would be willing to sell them really cheap if anyone's interested!
