Re: your pets

Pretty good

On the serious side, I really worry about it.

Clarence likes to stay pretty close to me at all times. I usually put him in the house when I'm actually welding. He still chooses to stay when the grinder is running. He hates the O/A because of the hiss.

I finally broke down and bought a floor magnet sweeper thingy because he likes to sit in the container when I'm running the press or mill. I worry about him picking up chips in his coat, then licking them off later.

He's sort of a PITA.

And the dumba$$ still thinks he's tougher than a 1000lb. cow. That's run up a vet bill or two

Little dude's so old now he has cataracts, so maybe he can't see crap anymore anyway. Can't see a rabbit unless the damn rabbit damn near comes up and thumps him on the nose these days.

I'm constantly sweeping and cleaning the floor to keep the chips and sawdust out of the fur and off the paws.

Blowing yourself off with air is a real unwise practice. Google can find lots of bad results for you. Had to say that because others read what you say and think it is a good practice to imitate.

Re: your pets

Was cutting some plate with O/A on a job site one time. Owner had a Shepard that loved to chomp at the sparks as I cut. I had to stop several times to ask the guy to take his dog away. Finally, he said, "Screw 'Em" Dog never did get burned that I know of.

Re: your pets

I chase the pets out when I attempt to weld, but my bigger concern is setting them on fire!

Re: your pets

I have a pair of English Mastifs in the shop. Been there for years. never had a problem with those dogs eating chips or burning their eyes. The only problem is, they steel our helmets and gloves when we aren't looking. If we are missing something, we just go to the dog house and look there first.

Re: your pets

Doc if you were closer, my wife would make me go steal the pup from you. The lab she had as a kid died last year at 14

theres a difference between blowing yourself off with low PSI air from the air compressor, and blowing yourself off with the oxygen from the torch.
remember o2 and oil dont mix!!!

"safety tips" are supposed to prevent the air pressure from being focussed enough to puncture the skin. I just keep my blow gun at arms length. A broom doesn't work so well.....
