Let's see the welding rigs
Show off your trucks and beds. Pipeliner, oilfield, trailers, I just want to see what you got.

Re: Let's see the welding rigs
Did pretty good on it actually. Got a good tranny case out of it, rebuilt the insides. AND I got a good set of hangers for clutch, and brake pedals. And a good floor opening cover thingy where the transmission goes. I may have to use the tunnel too. Great swap for 7 bales of hay.
I have a really good body that had an automatic in it. So I'm hoping that I can rebuild the auto cab to accept manual trans. stuff. GOOD LUCK TO ME SAYS I.

Re: Let's see the welding rigs
here's a couple pics of mine set up for plow duty. the other one is the day after I got the machine mounted in the bed. It sure is nice to have the machine in the truck for plowing, the extra weight allows me to plow in 2wd and I even got to use it when another guy backed over a sign.

Re: Let's see the welding rigs
It sits fairly flat. Its a Mitsu...It has REAL springs. The frame is boxed and super heavy. But it is sluggish on the take off.

Re: Let's see the welding rigs
Well Lug don't feel bad... You have a truck
I work out of a VW Jetta... It amazes me how I can fit my Dynasty, all the cables, Oxy / Prop torch, 40ft argon tank, grinders, hand tools and usually a few small pieces of steel in there and still get down the road making money... I may move up to a Ranger one of these days ...mmmm.... a real truck...mmm

VW Jetta...one of the best cars I ever had. Maybe you could trade it for a Rabbit Pickup...Had one of those too.

Re: Let's see the welding rigs
Lugweld, I have practically the same truck here, an '87 Dodge Ram50 longbed 4cyl/5spd. I have been using it lately with my portable generator to get jobs done while my usual welding truck is at the mechanics. Normally it's my run-around truck, but was my makeshift welding truck before I got serious about mobile welding and set up the F350 to do the job. Generac 4000XL powering the Millermatic 175 in the back of the little Dodge is what I used on my first mobile gate repair. The little trucks are tuff and seem to last for decades with only minimal maintenance. I brought my Bobcat home in the little truck and kept it on there till I transferred it to the big truck for it's permanent home. That little truck was riding low in the back with the Bobcat in it, but it handled it fine.

Yup it'll be real hard moving from 50MPG of the lil TDI but, after 300k she has paid her dues. I'm planning on keeping her as my daily driver just taking away the heavy work. I do have my eyes open for a rabbit diesel truck too,.. just real hard to find these days. |

Re: Let's see the welding rigs
I don't have a dedicated mobile rig, with everything (or anything
) set-up nice. That should go on the to-do list!Meanwhile, if I have to, here's how I'll roll: Attachment 29019 I lifted the tarp and touched the starter button, the Lincoln fired right up. So I guess I'm ready. The dog was worried about being left behind! ![]() Here's the tool box: ![]() Attachment 29020 What would they say if I rolled into the streets of Bakersfield... Not only lengthwise but squeezed left too! ![]() PS - MAC702 - If #10's designated driver split, she can climb on the back.

Quote:
He did not have the newest trucks. Other guys always had the newest and most shiny trucks out there. BUT, his trucks always made money..not cost money. Basic oil/filter and maintenance and no high costs for insurance and truck payments. When others laughed at him, he laughed, too...they did not know WHY he was laughing, though. Most all of the laughers have been gone for a long time. When I first got out of school, and they did not pay me while in school, I had no money. Just a new building, new equipment and many bills. I drove an old red pickup with terrible paint, a, a, a hoopty! Others told me what I should be driving. Oh well. My first responsibility was to the bank for my notes. They got paid first. I am driving a 2003 truck that was paid off long ago. Again, it is zero cost, but gets me to the place where I can make money, not spend it. So, no laughing here. Nice setup! Gets the job done. The most important thing is not how you get to the job, but what you do when you get there. Keep on truckin' lugweld! ![]() btw-loved all the rigs!
