Interval & spot timer ????
I am still learning my way around MIG welding with my recent purchase of a used WIA210s from a farm auction here in Australia.
I have two controls on my welder that I am not sure what they do ? I have put a link to my welders manual. Go to page 6 and number 5 & 6 (circled) are the contols I am talking about. Any help much appreciated. http://www.masterhire.net.au/uploads...LDM%20210S.pdf |

Re: Interval & spot timer ????
That is a spot welding timer. I have that on my HTP as well. On mine, one control sets the length of time the welder is 'on' duing the spot weld and the other control sets the length of time the welder is 'off' between spot welds, if I remember correctly. It's been a few years since I've used that feature. Your's is probly similar. The purpose is to aid in making consistent intermittent spot welds along a sheetmetal seam, among other things.

On the Miller, the 'Weld Timer' controls the length of time the current and wire feed is activated once the gun trigger is pulled and the 'Burn Back' is the length of time the current remains on after the wire feed stops. This prevents the wire from sticking to the weld but too much Burn Back and the wire could wind up sticking to the contact tip.

Re: Interval & spot timer ????
Duane, the spot feature on your Miller I think is probly the best for complete control out of the machines from that era. I had considered the Millermatic 200 when I bought the HTP. Got a better deal on the HTP.

Re: Interval & spot timer ????
Thanks for the replies.
Not sure if I will ever need that feature, but at least I know what it is for now. |

Re: Interval & spot timer ????
Duane,
My MM200 has a 'continuous,' a 'spot' and a 'pulsed' position; in spot, it uses the 'on' timer and 'burnback' control while in the 'pulsed', it uses the 'on', the 'off' and the 'burnback' controls. The pulse 'on' time varies from .5 to 4 seconds, while the 'off' time runs from .25 to 1 second according to my manual (which happened to be handy). I think the control #6 on that machine corresponds to our 'off' time for pulse welding. and his machine doesn't have a manual burnback control. In the description for the "Interval Control", it talks about 'Cycle Arc Mode" which I interpret to mean our 'pulse' mode. I also have heard it called "stitch' welding, perhaps in the Bible. |
