Super Glaze is hard to come by!!!

I had to order the 16lb spool from my LWS and he told me it would come directly from Lincoln as they didn't have ANY.

I went to Phoenix today and went to the supplier I bought my PowerMig350MP from and asked if he had the Super Glaze 5356 3/64 in a 16lb spool. He said no because it's too expensive and he sells the Hobart stuff.

But what I found out is that Lincoln shipped out some 16lb spools with only 3lbs on them for demo use by dealers. It's a large spool that fits the machine but only has a small amount of wire. He handed it to me and said Merry Christmas! I took it with a smile.

So, if you are looking for it and can't get it...ask if they have a demo spool on hand !!!!
It may save your bacon in a pinch.

He also gave me a spool of 1/16th as well. I don't know what to do with that yet.

I have never used superglaze, but You WILL find a use for the 1/16 as soon as you get anything over 1/4" with pulsed spray. Its the balls. The lincoln warehouse is in Ohio so anything I order on monday is here by thrusday.

Re: Super Glaze is hard to come by!!!

Seriously?
Or are you just tugging my nutz?

Because I was trying to figure out why they didn't make the PowerMig feed 1/16. They stopped at 3/64.

So I went to Lincoln's website and they show the Magnum SG Spoolgun feeding .023 to 3/64.

Are you just using the 3/64 drive rolls? Fill me in on the details dude!

Re: Super Glaze is hard to come by!!!

Yes, I just use the drive roll that came with the spool gun. It only has one. flip it one way for small wire and the other way for anything else.

I was welding some 1/4" diamond plate and found the bigger wire really draws more amps for more heat. I think I have a couple of spools of 5/64 too, I have to look. In the one pound spools, I go big as I can. The spool gun only goes up to 400? ipm. I did modify it a little. The pot (wfs) in the handle broke so I put in a 1k instead of a 10 K. Now the red box is course adjustment and the one on the spool gun is fine adj. Its easier to dial in a good arc with aluminum. NO where does it have wfs. Just turn the knobs and go.

So far I have tigged every aluminum job that has come in the door. I got the spool gun in case I get something bigger. I have used it a few times with all different sizes of wire, tried pulse on pulse..... BUT never on a paying job ....... Yet.

If you have the same spool gun, it will work. I also have the heavy duty nozzels. Look at the nipples thread. 3/4 gas cone is nice for aluminum.

I have pics of some of the aluminum I was messing with. I will post the link.

http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php...ighlight=spray Is this your spool gun?

Re: Super Glaze is hard to come by!!!

My PowerMig will feed 700ipm according to the papers.

400 seems pretty low... but I guess with 1/16 you might not need to feed it so fast.
