New to Plasma Quick Question

Ok just bought a New In Box powermax 600 and I really like the quality so far. I may of missed it in the book and did not see in the video but being new to plasma I thought I would ask before assuming something is wrong with a brand new machine.

I start a cut everything is fine at end of cut release trigger and I still have air coming out seems it stops only if I depress the trigger again? Is this normal or should it auto stop the airflow immediately?

Re: New to Plasma Quick Question

It should stop after a few seconds. It is cooling off the torch.

Re: New to Plasma Quick Question

Your manual may refer to that as "post flow". Maybe as long as 20 seconds??

Re: New to Plasma Quick Question

Avoid pulling that trigger extra times. Each time you initiate an arc at the torch in the air you cause double arcing inside the plasma torch. The arc travels between the electrode and nozzle shortening the life of your consumables. Don't start your cut in the air and don't run your cut off the edge of the plate into the air.
Also torches have a bit of preflow before the arc is initiated.... Perfectly normal.

"Post flow" is your torches friend.
