Difference in helmets ?

Is there really a difference in Auto Darkening helmets between the "cheapy" ones and say the name brand helmets? I have a Harbor Freight one, which I've been happy with, but it is the only one i"ve ever had. Any comments would be helpful as I am considering buying a new one.

Thanks,
Dave

Just look at the specs for a new Miller, Jackson, ect and compare them to the HF helmets. It usually comes down to reaction time of the lens switching to dark and other features like grind mode, variable shade, sensitivity, ect.

Re: Difference in helmets ?

When buying HF helmets see if they will give you a better price if you buy a dozen. They fall apart so fast the should be classified as an explosive. Sure they will give you another. But my time to go get another is worth more than the helmet.
