Hello to all from southern ONT.

I was crusin the net and landed here seen WeldingWeb™ - Professional
Welding Forum must have been the hook
I don't know if i fall in that catigory or not but here i am any how i have
been self employed for the last ten years of my twenty year welding
career.
IM not a brager or blow hard but i will let you know a bit about
where im comeing from so not to offend any one
for the first five years i worked in the heavy equipment ind.
got my ONT. welder fitter CERT. (multi process) during a three year
stint at a structural fab shop then floated in and out of different shops
for a few years before i realized the guy welding 7 days aweek and not
spending any time at home while the boss was always at the cottage or
on the boat wase'nt the winner

So i went out on my own with a new ranger 8 a tig moduale and a old
toyota 4x4 with a box full of tools.
over the years my income needs have risen (three children)
more income = higher production so i up graded to a ranger 300 DLX
with a LN-25 there has been alot of ups and downs over the last 10
years but weve survived.

Now due to riseing income needs iv been forced to grow again
and also specielize in some aspect of this industry instead
of running around dabeling in every thing.

i would like to say i choose heavy equipment but i think it would be fair
to say it choose me. there is alot of truth to the old saying you return to
your roots

So last spring i out fitted an old 81 INT S1900 DT 466 with a
decomissioned wilcox service body i picked up at the scrap yard with a
2 ton boom and hydralic gate for 2 grand

my 300 DLX blew the main board ( 5 years old) 3200 hrs. in the middle
of a contract and they told me 6 weeks for the part and a 2000.oo bill

so i sent it in to be fixed and ordered a VANTAGE 500 , another LN-
25 and the new LN-35. got the welder and LN-25 in three days
but was told the 35 was custom order 4 months just got it the other day
nice unit but did i mention LINCOLN CANADA sucks some how the wire
i ordered for it never came with it

know that iv told you a bit about myself i have a question has any one out there used the NS-3m 1\8 or NR- 311 7\64 with sucsess as i believe
it will suit my process needs?

thank you all and sorry about the grammer spent to much time in the shop.

Welcome,AnymetalIdiot, hope you have a good time here! I've used the 311 a bit in struct. stuff, with an LN/25, but I've never done any eq. repair with it. I'm kinda curious about that my self. I've always used 7018 on any frame repairs and 211 a couple of times on pushblock or dozer replates. You've probably run the wire before so you know what its like. You might look into the Esab Coreshield 8. Runs a little smoother, not guite as smokey, rated just as good. Anyone else?
