most of 1/4 in

i managed to score a nice chunk of plate steel 1/4 in and its about 4'x 4 ' with abot a 3 1/2 ft hole in centered and still has some usable steel the corners are about 23 in by 23in and i was thinking of how to turn it into a square by cutting it triangular and rotating it and manglueing it together should come ok whats the best way to extract it any ideas the measurements arent exact sorry

thats a 3 1/2 foot hole. cut the piece into four at the thin spots 3,6,9 and 12 Oclock, rotate each piece 180 and weld what were the outside edges together.

Seems like a lot of trouble though to make the piece you need.

What are you using it for? It will be hard too keep flat.

Hi,
New guy here, post #3. I made a diagram to timberwolf's description to look at the leftover after the square is taken out. It looks like with some cutting could make 4 legs and most all the scrap could live as a low table

You could also take the 4 plate sections and make a material rack out of them

Alternate welds on alternate sides, and backstep the welds. Ought to stay pretty flat.
