What I'm into today.

Hello everyone. Here is a couple pics of some of what I,ve done so far today. The round piece is titanium. I love what I do but not having work coming the door really depresses me. Almost like everyone has forgot about you. Anyone else ever feel like that. At least the customers of the jobs I did so far today should be pleased.

Thanks
Dan

Thats pretty cool. How big is the piece in first pictures? When you do high quality work and everyone is super impressed always and then it gets slow it does make ya feel like you aren't living up to the standards you have been setting. I feel it too, but then next time around it is worth it. Kinda a roller coaster.

Re: What I'm into today.

Do you have to maintain a fully argon atmosphere while tig welding titanium?

Re: What I'm into today.

Is the first pic a repair weld on a casting? The welds on both objects look extremely sweet to me.

Re: What I'm into today.

Those are some very intricate welds! I shake way too much to do that kind of tig work.

I think most of us who are self employed are in the same boat right now with work. The phone just isn't ringing very often....

Re: What I'm into today.

Thanks for the comments.

papabear- It was an injection molding cav. made of S-7 hardened to 56-58RC. Gotta be real careful you don't crack it. The blades were about .125 thick and 1.100 inches x 1 .00 inches.

For round titanium I built a base which has 3 gas nozzles I align them every 120 deg. I never liked welding in a chamber. Takes the one on one process away from the welding.

I Feel for ya! I used your quote, since it is your thread.

!st and foremost. About your work and this post. These welds should be a prime example of why we should not ship our work over seas. Absolutely amazing!

2nd This will probably get 1/4 of the views it would get if it were in the pictures section. Every one should see this.
