my boy's 1st lawn mower

Here's a lawn mower I got from a friend of a friend. All in peices. boxes and buckets of stuff. Everything was tore apart .
I had some sandblasting to do on a trailer so thought I blast this stuff too ,and paint it up. I just got it all together today and took it for a spin. I still got some more work to do. put on the deck ,fix or tube a rear tire ,air cleaner and a new seat.

SWEET! Complete with reflective initials.

Looks as if he's already enjoying it too.

BTW, is that a '59 on the stands?

Re: my boy's 1st lawn mower

My dad had a '59 with a 292 that gave up its box for a trailer (my first welding project as a teen!) when one of our barns gave way under a snow load and crushed the cab.

He loves that mower now, but wait a few years. When he's old enough to run it, you probably won't be able to get him near it.

You're right DSW. All our kids couldn't wait until they were old enough to use the mower. Funny how they disappeared after the second or third time though.

Except for Brink - he still jumps right on and usually without being asked too.

Ever since I was able to cut the grass i would always jump on it, still do today. I just cant stand the way anybody else cuts the grass around here, they never cut it right. BTW tigmusky looks like you have a very nice shop setup.

Re: my boy's 1st lawn mower

I would have loved to have a riding mower when I was a kid, we had push mowers until I graduated high school and went off to MSU, when my dad bought a baby Deere. I was like thats cheating, lol.

Re: my boy's 1st lawn mower

Lucky to find a mower that was absolutely proportionate and appropriate for a guy that size!

Re: my boy's 1st lawn mower

I wish I had picts of my old boss's 18 mounth old daughter sitting in the backhoe when mom had to run out and left us to "babysit" while we were working in the shop. She looked exactly like your son playing with the shifter and steering wheel. Only thing was she had a bigger Tonka toy to play with.

She also got to play in the "sand box". Boss picked her up and sat her in the old bed of the dump truck. Giant play pen filled with a foot of sand.

That lever on the side needs a skull or an 8-ball shift knob on it ....
