THAT JUST CAN'T BE.........THE ECONOMY'S SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE REBOUND

Btw.....that's one HUGE Morse taper thingy ya got there

The adujstable spanner wrench is worth salvaging if you can. They're pretty pricey when new. It's a forged tool, but it might be welded with the proper technique. Might be worth reading up on. They're great for removing chucks from a lathe

Not to mention those indexable cutters. Looks like they came from a big lathe...a real big lathe....compared to that small one.

Lotta "stock" for 28 bucks!!

it hurts me to see this stuff trashed. that spanner has the name billings and spenser and their triangle b logo... net says they started in 1870. there was a tensioning device that kept the spanner clicked in, but it disappeeasred and someone welded it in their favorite spot. welds are all broke btw.

the center is a little worn at the point, seems like it could have been remachineed a 32nd shorter with all that shop around..its a big *** plumb bob now.. the huge MT has a neat spreader system to lock parts on the end..

Re: checking price of scrap

Nice little haul weldbead!

I went to my local scrap yard yesterday too.
Wanted to pick up a few things needed for a project, small stuff!

The last time I was there about a week ago, the owner, an old friend of mine, I told him I was looking for some good usable welding cable, heavy stuff like 2/0, 4/0, and asked him to contact me if he got any in.

Well!
When I walked in yesterday, he yells, hey, I had a couple guys come in on Tuesday and Wednesday, they where cleaning out U-Tech's shop "a factory that closed a while back" they must have brought in about half a ton of 2/0 welding wire that looked new and on spools out of 2 tons of welding wire that they brought in, all of it looked good, but I didn't know if you where still looking for some so I scraped it, chopped it all and shipped it all out yesterday!

Mind you!
I could have got that new cable from him for $.25 a pound.
Grrr!

Not to hijack but #1 cable is down $.70/ft since I bought those new leads for the Weldanpower 150 just a few weeks ago. Knew that was going to happen.
