My relationship with welding
Hello all. I have had very irregular welding experience in the past, but I think it has become more of a usual thing. I am a cabinet/furniture maker and always have occasions where I need something fabricated out of metal. My first exposure to welding was during grad school at BU in the mid 90's where I worked in the machine shop at the Physics Dept. I didn't weld there, but I was exposed to their exquisite welding practices. After graduating, I took a few classes at a trade school, but only using arc and MIG. Since then, all of my welding has been stick using buzz boxes borrowed from friends.
Last year, I finally decided to buy a used Syncrowave 300 because it seems to have the versatility I am looking for (thin gauge, aluminum, etc) and has earned high praises over its history. My shop has 2) 200amp 3-phase panels, so i figure i should have enough juice to run it. The only thing, is, well, I've never used TIG so i am a bit gun shy.
And so the Syncrowave is sitting and waiting patiently while I am borrowing a Lincoln ac-225 to put together my current projects. I hope that visiting this forum (and my continued practice) will steel my courage and I can turn away from the tombstone and dedicate myself to the Syncrowave exclusively.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to more of this great site!!
