Great intake manifolds

I hate to say that I did not do these, wish I could come close. But found it necessary to post up the link (hope the mods dont mind. Its to a drag racing forum, so I am taking the gamble)

Fit and finish is incredible. I dont think the guy has his own website, so here is a link to check out the twenty or so different manifolds and various bits that he makes

Aluminum TIG porn inside!

I am so conflicted on what to say about that. I dont feel like there is a proper way to express my amazement. That was almost orgasmic...

This guy is amazing. He has good hands, but the prep is something else. He has it to a science.
A real craftsman to be sure.

Re: Great intake manifolds

That guy can weld! I really think those intakes would look better if the welds were smoothed out - then they would look like one flowing piece, but not like a casting

Re: Great intake manifolds

It was amazing, then i realized I'm never going to be half the welder he is....I'm not half the golfer Tiger woods is also, so i guess its alright. i would consider buying one just to mount it in my garage or in the house just to look at.

Re: Great intake manifolds

Re: Great intake manifolds

So now the real question. Since beauty is in the function, how well do they perform? My guess would be, nothing special. In fact some of the transitions from plenum to runner are kind of crude and unbalanced. I give it a 10 for looks, and a 5 for functionality.

Re: Great intake manifolds

i would say for their intended application they probably run good. In a drag car who cares how it idles as long is makes insane power.

Re: Great intake manifolds

Makoman,
I get what you are saying....but if it doesn't perform, who is going to pay big money for it?

Just my thoughts.

Re: Great intake manifolds

Yeah I suppose for just a drag application its fine. Peak power is easy, getting running stability, emissions, fuel economy, decent torque curve etc is the hard part. At least from a design standpoint.

Come on man, those are almost perfect manifolds. Have you seen what most oem manifolds look like. there pretty crappy on the inside and flow like garbage. his are smoothed and radius just fine on the inside.
