Re: Antique Generator/Welder

wonder if that thing is fixable since there's a crack in the water block?

Re: Antique Generator/Welder

"This welder was used in the 50’s and 60’s for a lot of pipe fences in the Kern County area. It has a 15kw Wilson Hornet Generator that was ran by a Ford model “T” flat head motor. Everything worked on it before the waterside of the block cracked on the motor. Had plans for it but need to let it go. Please make an offer!"

The pictures are small and blurry, but I'm sure that's not a "T" engine.

It looks like a six cylinder, with a water pump, oil filter, and distributor. The "T" was a four, and had none of the extras.
That's sure a healthy welding generator head though. It'd probably still be a functional rig.

Denrep,

I was counting the wires too. Not a T, but it looks flat head. Maybe 6 cyl continental?

I don't know - To me the edge of the head looks too round for F Continental, and there may not be an oil fill tube on the left, could be though.

I hope someone saves it.

Good Luck

The trailer alone needs a lot of attention, but I really like the genuine bumper! Give it a sandblasting, some paint, and new running gear and lights...oh and tires and wheels, springs and/or bushings, maybe a coupler and safety chains...fenders...registration...it might not need tags, actually!

The generator is a beast.
I wonder how the frame is?

I dont think its a continental or a dodge, looks more like a late 30s early 40s hercules to me.

Re: Antique Generator/Welder

old school onan? wisconsin?

fwiw both chevy and ford had old school inline 6 cylinders... both of those would probably be too big for this application though.

Re: Antique Generator/Welder

I think Cablecat is on it with Hercules. Herc liked to hang stacks of gear driven accessories off of the side.

Of course Chev built a lot of sixes, but they were all OHV.
Ford built a few flat sixes, but they had the scribler on the front, or stabbed through the side on an angle.

I can't think of a Wisconsin or Onan in this class of six, but maybe.

We'll have to talk Tanglediver into a look, see, buy.

Good Luck

Re: Antique Generator/Welder

It depends on what the board of directors has to say about buyouts and aquisitions. I think we're under a spending freeze.
