hi guys i have a couple of questions that need help with. where i work it requiered to take a welding test ussually we don t weld anything else but stainless steel
so my questions are...
what pre heat flame is best for cutting cast iron?
and the other one is....which oxyacetylane flame is recomended when gas welding mild steel?
i"ll apreciate the help

You can't cut cast iron with an oxy acet torch. I have seen a gasoline oxy torch that was made for cutting cast iron. I think it was used in the military and it was a long time ago.

Not to nit-pick, but since these are test questions.

Oxy-fuel cutting of cast iron is a recognized procedure, and a heavy carburizing flame would usually be used.

For welding mild steel, usually a neutral to possibly a light carburizing flame would be recomended.
