Re: found can crusher at auction!!

I attended an absolute auction of a industrial machine manufacturing company and scored!
The arbor press was purchased for $130.00.
I bought 17 bessy "F" clamps, ranging from 8' to 12" for $65.00.
A rigid tri-pod pipe vise for $80.00.
50+lbs. of filler wire, including 8lbs. of NiCrMo-4, 20lbs. of 309L, for $20.00.
I spent $1,000.00 for aprox. $11,000.00 of tooling.

at first I felt bad due to the liquidation of the company but upon researching found out the owner sold out to an over seas comp and retired worth millions.

Re: found can crusher at auction!!

Wow great find. I like it but a little slow. I always wanted to build a MAN size can crusher. I was thinking of an air cylinder and room for maybe 10 cans at a time. I'm lazy, I have 3 or 4 plastic 55 gal drums filled with uncrushed cans. I drilled holes in the bottom so the rain would wash all the sticky sweet stuff off to prevent bees and such. Anyways I have to put some thought into building one. I was gonna follow in the way of a truck sized oil filter crusher.

Heck, I gave one just like that to my buddy a few years ago. I just never used it.
I doubt he uses it but he couldn't let me throw it in the dumpster.

Wish I had buddies like you! My former employer had arbor press in every shop. With some thought ad die fabrications, I used them often.

Unfortunately no. The auction company grouped the broach sets with a couple of pallets of very nice machining tooling into one lot. It went for more money than I wanted to spend on such. I don't do a lot of machine work. But my best bud is GM of a large cnc shop..broaches a plenty!
