Another Newbie!
Hello everyone, What a great site, it's good to know I have found somewhere to have any of my welding questions answered. I have been welding for some 25+ years now but with the technology today it's hard to keep up with everything in the welding world. I'm a millwright by trade but always have some sort of home welding project/repair going. I don't have any fancy equipment and until the last year or so have gotten by with a Lincoln weld pack 100 (it's 14 years old and still running strong using innershield wire). Recent additions to my home shop include a Lincoln Pro mig 175 (love it running mig, no chipping and no spatter) and a Hobart Stickmate LX AC/DC. I learned to weld pipe with stick and sometimes I think it's easier to just stick weld somethings. I am going to be getting into some aluminum welding soon and would welcome any advice pertaining to the aluminum conversion on the Pro 175. One question concerns the liner, can I use the same liner i'm using now or would it contaminate the aluminum wire because the steel wire has been ran through it?
Thanks, rjw |
