Oxygen Acetylene cart
I built this cart with some angle iron, its welded with 3/32 6013 DCEP @ 120 amps.
I also upgrade to a bigger Oxygen tank!

Re: Oxygen Acetylene cart
Nice build, looks stout. I would certainly attach a chain to the upright to hold the oxy tank. The snubber is pretty poor insurance against the oxy tank falling over and breaking the valve off. Trust me, you don't want a rocket runnin' loose in the shop.

Re: Oxygen Acetylene cart
Yeah, I couldn't find a chain or belt at the time. I figured a bungee cord is better than nothing at the moment. I'll be getting belts for both tanks.

Re: Oxygen Acetylene cart
A nylon web belt is better than rubber, chain is better still. The cart looks good, how does it handle?

Re: Oxygen Acetylene cart
Pretty well actually. I think I may need some better wheels.

Re: Oxygen Acetylene cart
Some taller wheels would probably help, try scrounging some rear wheels off a high wheel lawn mower and mount them closer to the back of the cart frame.Just a suggestion, cut the spacer out from under the front and then mount the tall wheels so they are not quite touching the floor when the cart is upright. With the tall wheels when you tip it back to roll it the bottom of the cart will have plenty of ground clearance. I found two 16" solid rubber bicycle style wheels for mine and they roll easy over any type of ground.
As I said, just a suggestion, Mike

Re: Oxygen Acetylene cart
I don't think that would work for this. I put the wheels back further because the cart seemed a little bit too easy to tip. Then again the cart is staying in the shop, no bumpy ground there.

Re: Oxygen Acetylene cart
Is that a wooden platform in the bottom? If it were me, I'd replace it with metal to thwart the Murphy's-Law-fire that could occur.

Re: Oxygen Acetylene cart
Yes it is wood. I do all my cutting and welding outside. I just run the cables and hoses through the door. The garage is far too messy (Thanks mom!) My "half" is clean by the way.
