Smile Powermax 45

I just wanted to say how pleased I am with my new Powermax 45. I previously owned a PM380, but it got to the point where I needed to cut more 1/2" stuff, and I had to break out the oxygen/acetylene more. (bummer) I sold my PM380 for $600 and ordered a PM45. The deal I got was incredible. Harris Welding in Ohio sold it for $1,530.00 with free shipping and no tax. They told me if I send them an old plasma torch head (It didn't matter what brand or what it looked like), they would show a trade-in and give me $210.00 credit. Anyway, $1,320 later, and I had a new PM 45 on my doorstep. This machine is very powerful and cuts 1/2" like butter. I was messing around and sliced some 1" also. I probably won't use it for real thick metal, but 1/4"-1/2" is very fast and easy. I already had a Motorguard air filter, which is very important for your plasma... Thanks Hypertherm for making a quality product!

Re: Powermax 45

I have had mine for over a year.....absolutely the best bang for the buck in an air plasma cutter! Consumables last for an incredibly long time....cut quality is excellent. Here are a few pics of an aluminum cutting job I did today. .080" thick aluminum.....cut 40 parts out of a 4 x 4 piece....took less than 40 minutes. There were a bunch of 1/4" holes.....looked like they were drilled and were within about .005" tolerance. Had over 400 pierces on the nozzle before starting this nest....most of the previous cuts were on 3/8" and 1/4" steel....this job added another 600 or so pierces....and the consumables still cut good and look good! I won't even tell you how much these parts...which are used for frames for a zip line trolley....sold for!

Re: Powermax 45

Wow Jim, nice work there... I'm not quite as advanced in the automated plasma dept. as you are... I just use the hand torch for cutting out tie-downs for trailers I work on, and making weed-eater and blower racks for trailers. I have a Millermatic 251, the PM45, oxy/acetylene, and a bunch of small tools to do what little I do... I have learned quite a lot from reading this forum, and I hope to learn more. Thanks
