Riland Cut 40 blew up

I got one used and it worked fine. then I put it in the back seat and drove to my buddies place to cut some 1/4" plate for camping skillets and plugged it in, hit the switch and then 3 loud bangs and some smoke and it was toast. Blew 6 transistors and a part of the PCB. anyone else have a Riland blow up?
