looking for tombstone welding cart pics

I recently purchased a lincoln 225 ac/dc machine and I am looking at the first project to be a welding cart of sorts, Most of the ones on here I have seen are for more of a box shaped welder than the tombstone shape of the 225. Just looking for some ideas.

Re: looking for tombstone welding cart pics

Had mine bolted to a Hand Truck, added hooks to hang welding leads and boxes to hold rods and tools. Worked great, to bad Thieves seemed to think so to when they easily stole it, sorry no pictures.

Re: looking for tombstone welding cart pics

This isn't much of a picture, but it was good enough to post and sell the welder 2 months ago. The absolute cheapest way to put wheels on this welder is to buy a hand truck for it. A Northern Tool cheapo was used for this one. The color was even right.

Slap a nice little rod holder on that and you are good to go!

Re: looking for tombstone welding cart pics

I did the hand truck mod for my Thunderbolt. I relocated the axle down and forward to make it easier to tilt for moving, and to add casters under the front for easier moving while in the shop.

For the tombstone, when relocating the axle, you could widen the base to clear the welder...

(Well, I can get the links to show, but not the pics... )

Re: looking for tombstone welding cart pics

Being 58 years old and wanting to keep the welder up off the floor making it easy to get to, I fashoned this old shopping cart that I picked up at the landfill cart for free. I did shorten it up just a tab and narrowed it down a little on the front side. I use the tool box for carrying chipper hammer etc. in.

Re: looking for tombstone welding cart pics

If you don't have the luxury of working on a concrete floor, a sorta off road cart is maybe what you need

I design all my carts using this basic design. Pneumatic tires, and a very solid front rest which will stay put regardless of the ground, level or not. Simple and cheap

I never took pics of my carts, so I had to crop some pics to show the cart. Sorry.

Re: looking for tombstone welding cart pics

I put the wheels on the front. That way, it's easier for me to move around my tiny shop.

I welded a nut on either end of a small pipe, then bolted on a couple of lawn mower wheels. The pipe got welded to a 3 piece angle frame, that was then attached to the welder with 4 self tapping screws.

I'm liking the variations on the dolly/handcart theme.

Re: looking for tombstone welding cart pics

OK, I vote for Gnewby's. In fact, I think I will try to find a cart and make one like that myself. The more I look at it, the more I like it. (I'll be 62 next week...)

Re: looking for tombstone welding cart pics

The 225's are the little, red welders that can! On the unit at work from the thread below, the only additions have been two more scrap u-bolts welded to the handle for various cables.
http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php...ling+tombstone

The basic angle frame can be adapted to any box. I did a version on an Idealarc too.

Re: looking for tombstone welding cart pics

Friend of mine gave me this little roll away. I already have one for my tools so I used it for my cracker box. Plenty of space to store welding stuff.

Re: looking for tombstone welding cart pics

No need to build any thing,All you need is a 1/2 inch axle,2 wheels and a 3/8 carriage bolt for the front foot.
