Hello from Odessa, TX

Hi all,

Just stumbled across this forum while searching for some pointers for GMAW-P with our Lincoln Power Mig 350MP. We've had the machine for a few months, and started off using it GMAW-S with 75/25 like we'd been doing with our old Millermatic. After a little research, I decided to try a 85/15 mixture, and it seems to work well with both -P and -S.

We are a commercial door and hardware shop, and our welding is primarily with light gage (14 through 20) hollow metal doors and frames. 90% of our welding is butt joints in flat position.

Back to the machine - I've been using the chart inside the door to the wire feeder compartment to get some starting WFS for the various metals I'm welding, and as a first step, they seem to do a good job. Those values in the chart are for Mode 5 (Non-synergic), but, nonetheless, they seem to work fine in Mode 11 (-S) and Mode 14 (-P).

Is anyone else on this forum using Lincoln GMAW-P on light-gage metals? If so, I'd like to hear if anyone has suggestions for refining the WFS and Trim in Mode 14 on this machine.

Oh, we also acquired a Lincoln 275 Precision TIG machine which we're slowly integrating into our welding processes.

Lots of knowledge and experience here, and I plan on visiting regularly.

TIA for any feedback,

John

Welcome.
I'm not from Odessa, but I've been there. does that count for anything?

The crater was pretty cool, but the C.A.F. museum/shop is bad azz!

How's FIFI doing these days?
