School me on Amphenol connector sources and interchange!

I've assembled lots of them on aircraft, but due to the magic of Supply never needed to learn how to source them and find substitutes, or derive what mates with what when I don't have a sample or tech data for the cable itself as opposed to the machine.

I checked some cable prices for my ESAB online, and " spontaneously defecated"

I LOVE what they charge per foot for long cables, as if that cost much extra....

Please school me on good vendors who will sell single connectors, and on interchange info links.

Anything else helpful welcomed, and thanks in advance!

http://www.newark.com/ They have a prety good selection as I recall, Also, if you get one of their catalogs they have info on how the numbering system works. Wouldn't surprise me if they had it on their website, too. You probably already know this, but I'll toss it out for what it's worth, Ampheol is just one supplier of Mil spec connectors. If you have the right number, it doesn't matter whether you get one made by Amphelnol, or ITT/Cannon, or someone else.

Here's another source:

I've never dealt with them, but their website seems to have a whole bunch of information on spec'ing mil-spec connectors.

Re: School me on Amphenol connector sources and interchange!

I've just been through this. I'm partial to Mouser but I've had a account with them for a long time now. My searches did show that they seemed to be a little lower on price compared to some of the others out there but I'm sure there are some that are lower. Anyway the single biggest problem is finding the right connector. I didn't make much headway until I came across a good catalog of how to order them. I can't find the exact one I used but here is the full catalog that includes the same info (along with a lot more).

I've both them from https://www.alliedelec.com before. Find the pin arrangement you need. They carry both solder and crimp terminals. They buy the housing you want, and straight or 90° backend.

Here is a pdf that has technical info, insert arrangement illustrations start on page 11.

Re: School me on Amphenol connector sources and interchange!

I bought some Amphenol stuff from Mouser last year, excellent service.

Click on "Circular Connectors".

I bought the multi-wire cable (7 wires) I needed from a local electrical supply house.

This was to make a quick disconnect for a Prince XL spool gun on my PM300.
