Review on this company and it's products

Now that a few of you have bought and used their products how about an update on them.? No holding back but no flaming either, I know the old adage you get what you pay for but there are times you can only justify spending X amount. I would like to know now that you've had some time with your machine how have they been working out?

Re: Review on this company and it's products

Hi Charlie,
I have had a Longevity multifunction machine for just short of three years now. I have also had a Longevity 80 amp plasma cutter for about two years. I'm very happy with both products, they are easy to use, easy to switch from function to function, the price is very affordable, and the customer service at Longevity is second to none in my opinion.
I use the plasma cutter on my CNC table for art cutouts, it does a very nice job and always gets the job done.
I also have one of the Longevity auto dark helmets and like it much better than my HF helmet.
I like their products so much I have become a high user of their forum and am a moderator there. This is because I believe in their products and am a very happy customer.
I've watched the support section of the Longevity forum, any issues noted there are taken care of very quickly and the customer ends up very happy. You may even be able to take advantage of the try before you buy program they have (customers volunteer to let people try their machines) if there is someone signed up for that in your area.
Because of the high level of support and quality product, I think Longevity will be around a long time. I will definitely buy from them again for any future welding needs.
Dan

Re: Review on this company and it's products

I have had my Force Cut 50 for about three months and I am very happy with it, I have managed to go through a 30 piece consumable kit in that time and the only problem I have had is that the ground cable came loose from the ground clamp. I have built a couple of fire pits with it a large smoker and I am almost done adding onto my shop with it.
I initially bought mine as a hold over while I waited to have my Oxygen bottle re-certified, which took a month, but I don't care to even hook up the old O/A rig now.
As far as service from Longevity I haven't had a need for it so I can't speak to that part of your question.
Two Thumbs Up!!

Re: Review on this company and it's products

No holding back no flaming, no bs, I chose a 200 amp multifunction(LS200PI), I was on a very tight budget, spending only cash I had in hand. Was watching the Can-Amer exchange rate at even dollars when I made my purchase. My parents lost some property to debt 25 years ago and it had a powerful affect on the way I do business.Never thought I had enough money for a tig, but found an affordable option. As soon as payment was confirmed, I got the email address to their forum and manual to get a headstart on the operation of it.

I am in Canada so I paid $45.00 shipping, don't know what shipping is in US.Their is no customs or duty on welders, doesn't matter from where they are made, but clearance and taxes was $85..00.UPS delivered the first machine, and it looked like they dropped it from about 4 or 5 feet onto something sharp.Gotta wonder where they get their drivers.A new one was sent as soon as UPS picked up the old one.The new welder arrived in not one large foam box as the first one arrived but with additional box cut and extended and packed with foam wrap, one within the other very well.Came with several cups and collets for the torch and consummables for the plasma cutter.

Had it for a few months and I have found an issue that I am going to change and that is getting some oxy-acetylene quick connects to quick change the tig torch and the plasma torch, because a barb and collet is used.Had also found that when I shut the flow gauge off, the pressure needle was indicating a minute leak, not so much as the ball would move but a leak none the less.Contacted Simon, and he got back to me with the resolution, and it took 15 minutes to repair, and all is tight now, their is no bleed down.Negative cable is short, it should be longer.

I have used welded with it steel from 1/16th to 24 gauge galvanized(ground off) using 1/16 and 3/32 ceriated tungsten, and making my own rods from .030 mig wire folded back and twisted with a drill for thin stuff, and 3/32 on aluminum 1/16th.The machine has a strong, consistent HF arc, the pedal works well for all sensitivity settings, rolls power on-off nice, the machine has features that work of much more expensive machines.

I had posted some photos of some pipe I cut, as long as their is a guide the cut is good but would recommend buying a standoff ring.Have not had to go up to 50 amps with steel or aluminum yet.Have had pilot arc stop functioning when I plugged up the tip and had to stop and clean it and pilot arc returned.

Cutomer support was very good, their was always someone knowledgeable of the possible problems on the phone, emails were always attended to in the immediate day.

Re: Review on this company and it's products

I have a ct416 that I have had for over a year. I have used it about once a month for either GTAW, SMAW or PAC and it has worked well. So far it seems to be well worth what I paid for it.

As a matter of fact it paid for itself the other night. Got called about a job at a local paper mill for a fulltime job as a maint welder. I didn't have a facility I could practice at since getting laid off from teaching and it had been a couple of years since completely rooting a 6" pipe with GTAW. I fit one up and rooted it with the 416. It worked well and never missed a lick. Ran hot enough to make my WP-17 a bit hot to touch. Don't care for the torch that came with it only because I like the Tig Rig I have.

I am not happy with Lincoln. My Ranger 250 K1725-2 only has 45 hours on it. The welding output side just quit. Paid $3500 for it new. And its out of warrenty.

Sorry to hear that but what does that got to do with Longevity and their products?

Re: Review on this company and it's products

I have a LC-520D. I have had it for a little over a year so far. I had to get a replacement a few months after I got my welder because of a fan issue. Longevity was great about replacing it. I don't use it that much. I bought it for a TIG welding project and it worked great for that. I have also used it on 120v which is really useful. I have an adapter made so I can use a regular outlet.

Re: Review on this company and it's products

I have a 160 unit for a hobby welder I use it to weld AL in the garage also do some plasma cutting and a little bit of arc but I use the TIG the most.

Is it built a little cheap ya maybe but I paid very little for a unit and it works just like I want it to.

Would I take it out in the field and put it around mud and snow like I do my miller units HELL NO but for the garage and doing allot of things on a little compact unit I love it takes up a little room and it's funny to watch guys look at me when I tell them to switch it to CUT mode after we just got done doing a AL weld to make a plasma cut LOL
