I wish I had a weldor.

Can't believe how bad this seasons weldors are. 6 men that cant clime the steel 13 that can't weld! And a laborer that turns into the best welder find all year.

The laborer fire watch piped up and said I can do better than that.... never one to let a boast go unrealized he grabbed the old pile bucks hood (don't know why he owns it he can't weld) and put down 8" of vary nice NR232 in a chinese overhead.

Tomorrow he is going to the 751 hall and I am making him a Weldor.

Why am I still dealing with the union?

I'm gonna guess Chinese overhead means "hood in one hand and stinger in the other".

Re: I wish I had a weldor.

Ok, I saw your post and was thinking, here's someone trying to start some crap. So I went into your profile and read your previous post and I was right. I don't believe you have ever struck an arc. I don't believe you have ever employed anyone, union or nonunion, I believe you probably tried to get in a union but you were not smart enough to pass the entrance exam so now you sit home watching faux news with your computer and try to start an argument about politics and unions. I will bet you don't work, you are probably on disability or some other goverment program and blame it all on the unions and Democrats. You probably live with your mother and you switch back and forth between this site and your favorite porn site. I do believe your a fat bastard.

Brace member on some tangent. Usually ties in from bottom of one column to the top of the adjacent column. Making an X between two adjacent columns. The connection is usually a fillet between the brace member and a plate coming from the column. These were 6F welds 5/16" fillets.

Re: I wish I had a weldor.

I finished my first welding class... stick... at the JC and probably will get a low B... and I got 1/2 the projects even done at all... but I do love Alaska as U know F.B. hmm... let's see let me send a brief resume

62
Very unhealthy
Well educated, used to spell real good.
X biz owner, been there done that.
play guitar well and can do 2+ hours concert of original songs mostly about West Texas, available for BBQs and parties. with Woody Guthrie Union songs for sure.
good at working with Unions and folks in general, a needed skill?
weldor> not hardly but like it,
Would go to Alaska gladly, however unavailable from from Oct-April will be in Az
Don't like the no see 'ums and skeeters so backwoods Fairbanks area is OUT, except if we get to go Grayiling fish, then maybe
Would make a good Public Relations fella and that might be a job to fill
Will not attend any Sara rallys, BUT do think she's a fox

hoping these are skills that would be helpful to your enterprise.

Seriously F.B. it is the state of the world that young American skilled labor is an oxymoron. Hoping u find a few good men, try X military guys seriously... they are real popular here for our industries.

F.B. is legit I think? I don't know for sure, but we've bantered a bit and his rants on things like health care costs sometimes have too much truth to them to be made up?

Re: I wish I had a weldor.

I wish I could spell , Dejevue, so that's my best guess, Many, I said many years ago I was a laborer and i insulted a guys welds at age 19. An old head super called me on it and said he had enough trouble getting certified welders that he didn't need me pissing them off. Due to Union rules and clicks I was forced to get into the laborers union cause the Iron workers were all sewed up and you basically had to buy your way in the the early 80's around here. Should have mentioned this company was 100% bridge work and all union, good pay in any job. I then produced the much coveted blue card DOT all position, unlimited thickness cert. To which the old superintendant looked completely baffled and asked me where did you get this and why are you a laborer? He then personally made some calls and I was put into the carpenters union as a dock builder/ pile driver full rate, was a nice raise. Also I spent a good deal of days on "Permit" working with the Iron workers who were quite jealous of a carpenter who could run vetical girder splices all day long with there best guys. Also learned to bang nails pretty good over the years. In my day " Chinese Vertical " was somewhere between overhead and vertical usually running up a slope upside down, am I close?
