Project Smoker

I recently was given a trailer with a bbq pit on it. It had a fire box that was rusted out on the back side of it. I wanted to make it a smoker so I started on it but I ran out of ideas I put the diamond plate on the back for a shelf and I am going to weld the current lid closed and I traced out where I wanted the new lid to go. I don't know what kind of fire box I should put on it square or round if you guys have some ideas you would like to share on what I can do with this I would appreciate it a lot, I made and refurbished pits but this is the one that stumps me I guess because how it made on mounted on the trailer
