Zapster that happened about 125 miles away from my home. Just curious do you also live in KS? I have seen several pictures of this incident but the one you have is a lot clearer then most of the others I have seen before. I am referring to the one showing the trackhoe and trailer under the bridge. I had heard that they might have that stretch of highway back open hopefully yesterday.

Right you is Mr. Zapster. Right you is. The internet was at first intended to be used by a select few nerdy folks. I am glad that someone had the good sense to open it up. I remember when Bill Gates was being interviewed about the development of Netscape and the internets growing popularity and he said that the internet was a niche market with essentially no future...regular folks changed his mind.

Yeah but when you want to borrow tools, or go over to your buddies house for a beer you have that delayed reaction by internet.

I got a buddy who got

a cat excavator real cheap after the previous owner did that down here in Georgia. This accident put the first owner out of business.

He pretty well cut into 80% of that overpass!!!! Can you imagine the deccelaration the driver felt? If he didn't have his seatbelt, he went out the windshield....

I've made up my mind: who needs a plasma cutter when you can have one of those!

Everytime I see those pics, the "sometimes you feel like a nut" jingle pops into my head. Can you imagine that driver calling his boss to report what's happened? "I uhhh.... well..... hmmmm....you see...its like this.... I sorta hit a bridge....."

I'm having trouble visualizing how that happened. Did the boom catch the bridge right under the gaurd rail and stab upward through the underside of the bridge deck?

That's what I was thinking also, clutch, because the impact side doesnt looked disturbed. Probably, he just snagged a low hanging I-beam and WHAMMO!!! Bridge-Ka-Bob!

I can't even imagine the noise at the moment of impact. Followed by an overwhelming smell of poo in the cab of the truck.
