I bought an XL welder and wow, what a welder. It is an amazing tool, it burns all size rods perfectly.
I have always used MIller stuff and will continue buying them. Way to go Miller.

Re: Miller thunderbolt xl
nice stick welder, just do not drop it. It will bend all kinds of things and break the plastic crank screw. (shunt lead screw)

Re: Miller thunderbolt xl
I'm really happy with mine.Plastic crank and leads coming through front panel(no plug connectors) seem a little cheesy, but I guess they need to do that to keep it in that price range.I was looking at
ads for Hobart Stick-Mate before I bought mine.Looks to be the same welder, only cheaper, but in the end I just went to my lws and bought the T-Bolt.

Re: Miller thunderbolt xl
If the factory leads are too short or having them always connected is a hassle, you can cut off the leads and put Tweco or Dinse twist-lock connectors at the machine, then use whatever length leads you need.

Picked it up at a scratch and dent sale at a local supplier. crank screw didn't break, but the crank pointer got all F'd up when one of my guys decided to force it because the face was bent. Other than the dents and a bad fan it's worked great for years. I removed the leads and added the Tweeco connectors to mine almost imeadiately so I could add more cable.
